I’ve established through this game series that fighting games are not my thing, right? Injustice tried to prove me wrong.
It failed, but it was a valiant attempt.
As fighting games go, Injustice is pretty simple. The combos are not too long, the button-presses are simple relative to some games, and each character’s like of special moves is not long. The game provides plenty of flash for button-mashers as well, with environmental moves and stage changes to spice things up. The tutorials go through all this, and do a pretty good job.
The story mode pulls the player through the Injustice storyline, pushing for every battle along the way. I only played through the first bit, and was unfortunately stuck playing Batman instead of having some variety, but it flowed well enough. I was able to take a peek at the roster in other modes, though, and by my count, DC brought a lot of variety.

At the end of the day, this is still a fighting game. For a newcomer, it feels stiff, and there aren’t many people in online lobbies anymore. Fighting games have a short lifecycle before their sequel comes out and pulls people along. The game soon felt lifeless to me, and I stopped playing.
Verdict: 1 hour played.
