So here I am sitting with three books that all have some form of a draft.
- My first book: What Lies In Me
- A Prototype Sequel to What Lies In Me
- Disbelief Suspended
When I began writing two years ago, I didn’t think I’d be able to finish one ‘novel’, let alone this much content. The only problem is that I still haven’t released any of it.
Let’s talk about What Lies In Me for a moment. That book, all in all, tops out at about forty thousand words. This is a very short book, longer than a novella but shorter than a novel. Even polished to perfection, it would not do well with traditional publishing. I thought about self-publishing, but even that seemed like a big chancy step, even with all of the editing I’ve done. I just don’t have enough feedback on the book to understand where I am with my writing, and it being my first work, it’s very hard to edit. I know it’s not perfect, but I still want to tell the story, even if I need help perfecting it. I’ve made my decision.
Wattpad. Though I was initially biased against it, I have researched the details and decided that it is a great place for me to post some early works and grow as an author. What Lies In Me will be arriving on my Wattpad account in installments, beginning (hopefully) this next month. I hope that the feedback I get from it will help me to mold it into the short, engaging story that I originally envisioned.
As for the sequel: That book deals with its own flaws as well as those from the first book. It’s only on a second draft currently. What happens to it largely depends on my successes or failures with the first book.
Then there is Disbelief Suspended, the full-length novel I just finished a (very raw) first draft of. I am considering self-publishing for this book in the future. It deals with a lot of strange ideas and themes, as it originally was conceived as a parody. I’m very excited to see where it leads me… after I edit it and have some people read it.
Godless, my next passion project, has an amazing first three chapters done. If any book that I have in my head sees a traditional publisher, it would be this one.
Oh, and I must include The White Book, a fantasy short story that I’ve created. It is complete and I am currently looking into anthologies and the like. I’ll provide more details when I have them.
Ah, looks like I’ve rambled too long. This status update is fairly coprehensive, and I thank you for taking the time to read it. I’ll have another strange, snarky, or insightful blog post up before too long.
See you around!

Best of luck with your work!
Finishing a first draft is fun. Like you feel like you’re finally finished, but then you realize. The work is just starting. Congrats!
Best of luck with all of that 🙂 Finishing a draft is a great achievement! Feel proud! I’ll be looking forward to hearing more about your story being posted on Wattpad
Thanks for your interest! First three chapters are up, actually, and I’ll be putting up at least one more a week. It’s very hard to edit early manuscripts of mine, but I need to get something out there for comments. Thanks again!
Oh! How exciting! I’ll definitely check it out then 🙂
How do you get the book on Wattpad?

You probably need an account to read it, but it is out there. There are several thinks to it.
Unless you mean: “How do I put the book onto Wattpad?” In which case, lots of writing, editing, copying, and pasting. Seriously, try out a Wattpad account. It’s free and relatively hassle-free!
